SIDENOR is the largest manufacturer in Spain of special steels, forgings and castings, as well as one of the main manufacturers of drop forging pieces. It has four productive sites (Steel Mills) and three downstream facilities. SIDENOR offers a complete range of rolled products (wire rod, bars, flats, billets), cold finished (cold drawn, peeling/turning and straightening) and forged products (bars and flats) in carbon steels, free cutting steels, alloyed steels, spring steels, micro alloyed steels, cold forming steels, bearing steels, tool steels and stainless steels.

SIDENOR has one of the largest R&D centers in the European steel sector, offering technological developments solutions for the optimization of products and processes. SIDENOR takes part of SPIRE PPP.

Main tasks  in the project:

SIDENOR will represent one of the COCOP case uses, where advanced control technologies will apply to four sub-processes within the steel production value chain (secondary metallurgy, continuous casting, hot rolling and finishing) in order to reduce the number of surface and sub-surface defects at the final product.
